BH Mom & Daughter Duo Do Bling

Local jewelry designer Naz Golshan knows better than anyone that Beverly Hills has no shortage of diamonds and gold. What sets her jewelry company Naz and Jaz apart is the fact that Naz’s founding partner happens to be her nine-year old daughter, Jasmine (Jaz).

It all began when Naz wanted to get back in the work world after devoting twenty years to raising kids. “But with little work experience, who would hire me?” she shrugged.

After visiting every booth of the jewelry mart and picking the brains of established jewelers, Naz decided to start her own business. “I was an expert in designer handbags and shoes, but had no formal jewelry training”.

Bursting with ideas of her own, Jaz joined her mom in the business. Danny, Naz’s husband, takes credit for coming up with the name Naz and Jaz.

With a $300 dollar initial investment, mom and daughter set up shop in their home. “The night before my first show, I couldn’t stop crying,” Naz recalls. “‘No one will show up’ I told my husband Danny.” They sold out.

Flash-forward to business trips to Shanghai and Italy and celebrity clients like Lindsay Lohan, Saudi billionaires and academy-award winning actresses like Whoopi Goldberg.   “As soon as I finish one piece, I’m bored with it and on to the next,” Naz says.

Despite their close relationship Naz and Jaz admit to occasional differences. For starters, one of them has a strict bedtime. Sometimes they don’t see eye-to-eye on designs. Ultimately, though, they work it out. Jaz says, “Working with mom is fun. I always tell her we should do more shows.”

Naz admires Jaz’s creative energy. “At trunk shows, she sells. Everyone loves her. She’s brilliant.”

Beautiful jewelry that's rooted in a really fantastic story/family. The rings/finger cuff are my favorite. I love how intricate the pieces are. Naz and Jaz have a definitive point of view as artists. And after seeing their pieces around town, I now know their origins!

With so many distractions and pressures we all face, I think what you and your daughter have to share is really inspiring. Around here, if you're not a Laker fan (and I'm really not that into it) you're doomed. Boys!

What beautiful jewelry! I love it, and the fact that it comes from a mother-daughter team makes it even more special.
